Public school experience
This blog is per each class during the week.
On Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, we start with a class that is
English Language Development (ELD) in this class, students from the first,
second and third grades are together. The students watch a video and the
teacher asks them what the video teach them. Next they respond after that the
students talk to each other. This class differs based on student’s language
levels. This class is important because it help students in different level learn
to communicate in English language. This program is focus in help the students
to development in English language skill.
I think that is program can help students ELS to improve their speaking
because they interact with English speaker.
Next to the (ELD) the teacher asks the students what is
the goal for today or what do they share with others, she takes a puppet and passes
it to every student and some students talk about the goal for today. Then the teacher rings a bell and gives them the
instructions, and start the Reading class.
The Reading´s
class its every day, the teacher to catch the attention with a video and they
dance along the video. After the teacher introduce the lesson, she takes a book
and reads it and tell them “what the story can help them become better people
in many ways”. the students look for their books according to the level of
reading of each child, the children are grouped in groups of two (back to back)
it gives them a time for reading. (At that time the teacher practices reading
with students who need to improve in reading) the following is each students
give recommendations book that they love it to classmates. The teacher asks
them to show the book that they read, she writes in her notebook and using the
technology and she write the topic “what did teach them the book that the
students read” and the students write about the topic. Then the student work
individual and the students write how to identify the moral of the
stories. I love this activity that
students read in group of two back to back, because each student can help each
other, I will use this activity to improve in language learning in my
classroom.
The class of
Read Aloud is every day, the teacher begins with introducing book´s cover and
asks them what they see and tells them the name of the author and the topic
that the book is about. The teacher reads the book with some words covered, so
the student could be tell which word is covered. Then the teacher reads it
together with them. And then he asks them questions about reading, then the
teacher write the title, the category of the book “this book is about… the main
character” then the student write each sentences, but they use their favorite
book. When the student finishes doing
the activity, they can read the books in their apps and do the activities on
it.
The writing
class is every day, she introduces the theme in this week was to write about
the family, she introduces the family of her and then writes three simple
sentences using technology and each student has to write about their family.
Those are some
topics for this week what did you do on weekend with your family? How many
family you have? What do you do with
your family?
She reviews but
does not take into account the writing only the words that are stuck around the
walls. After some children go and explain what they wrote and others tell him
what his mistake (capital letter, period) was if they did not write much or if
they wrote enough. I can use this technique because the students can write short
sentences every day and they can improve their writing skill.
